Book Art

About

Hello everyone! My name is Carly Frei and I am the artist behind Fiction Reshaped. Besides creating and making art, I love reading books, watching movies, eating popcorn, and spending time with my husband, Ross, my son, Finley, our cat, Otis, and our very energetic dog, Zinnie. We are based out of Minnesota and we love enjoying the great outdoors during all seasons, even our cold and snowy winters!

When working with recycled vintage books there are miscellaneous fonts and sizes, illustrations, different colored worn pages, and not to mention, many creative stories. This allows me to have fun when making book art since not one page is ever exactly alike. Since I am hand creating these works of art with recycled materials, every piece is special because they are each unique and one-of-a-kind!

I first started folding designs into books as a way to relieve the stresses that came with being a teacher. With our move to a new state in 2018, I decided to take the opportunity to do something that I have always loved to do, make art! On top of my passion for art, my husband and I have always been environmentally conscious about our impacts on the world around us and this is one of the reasons that I wanted to work with old vintage books and help reuse them into something new. I started collecting old books that would otherwise be recycled or thrown away. My desire is to extend the lives of these beautiful vintage books and give them new purpose. These books will add whimsical elegance to any space, in which I hope people will see the beauty in recycling an old unwanted object.
